I admit that I’m a sucker for new varieties of fruit and veg. So when the ‘pink lemonade’ blueberry arrived on the UK scene, I was suckered in, and ordered my very own bush from Thompson & Morgan.

T&M are not the cheapest, but a couple times a year they offer free shipping, often in conjunction with other offers. My blueberry was £12.74 delivered. Subscribe to their mail-order catalogue and they’ll regularly send £5 off coupons as well.

Pink lemonade was developed in America and its berries ripen to a ‘deep glossy pink colour’. The berries are also apparently twice as sweet as regular blueberries.

I decided to pump for the 2L pot (vs the 9cm version), and when it arrived yesterday, I admit I was very impressed with the specimen. Nice sturdy stems and big leaves. It’s joined my other six blueberries and two bilberries in the back garden (all in pots). Looking forward to eating my very own pink blueberries in 2013!
